| Role Purpose: | • As a key member of the core network design team the purpose of the IP And Core Engineer role is to measure and maximise user experience through IP level shaping and optimisation. | |
| Main duties: | • Produce and maintain system reference model and roadmap • Design of overall core network architecture and production of systems design • Evaluation of alternative core Network architectures and long term planning of core network evolution • Design of registration systems. • Develop QOS from the air interface through to the core network. • Identification and execution of IP level performance optimisation • Development of per-user performance measurement tools • Comparison with live network results. • Conduct core vendor equipment testing to support vendor selection. • Influence vendor equipment development • Represent UK Broadband on Standards bodies |

| Attributes Required | Essential | Desirable |
| Experience | • Several years WCDMA, WiMAX or IP core architecture design experience. • Core Network and IP technologies. • Comprehensive knowledge of all relevant core network components (ASN, CSN, Radius) • Working knowledge of Authentication and Encryption methods (Radius, SIM) |
• Working knowledge of both UMTS and WiMAX core networks. • Working knowledge of IMS and UMA • Working knowledge of TDM and VoIP network elements (Soft-switch, Media and Signalling gateways, interconnect) |
| Qualifications | • BSc in Telecoms Engineering related subject | |

| Role Purpose: | • To develop a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of 3.5 GHz signal propagation and identify cost-effective techniques to maximize coverage. | |
| Main duties: | • Acquire expert theoretical and practical knowledge on RF propagation. • Procure and hone state-of-art RF prediction systems • Design a feasible link budget based on business requirements • Specification of propagation measurement process and methodology • Evaluate and present propagation results. • Develop RF network planning guidelines for radio planning teams • Evaluate alternative RF Network architectures (macro, micro, repeater) • Represent UK Broadband on Standards bodies |

| Role Purpose: | • To assume a key role in the conception, design and evaluation of a high performance and cost-effective radio network to meet the needs of the business. | |
| Main duties: | • Expert on WiMAX Radio Access Networks • Identify RAN equipment functional and performance requirements • Provide recommendations on RF system vendor selection • Influence the development new RF system products to ensure that specifications meet both consumer and UK Broadband needs • Conduct feasibility exercises of alternative RAN architectures. • Design and deploy RAN testing and evaluation programs • Test WiMAX parameters to optimise settings. • Evaluate and recommend specific WiMAX configurations. • Liaise with Transmission design teams • Maintain an in-depth understanding of technical features of WiMAX standards and products. • Represent UK Broadband on Standards bodies |
