However, once outside the school campus there is no guarantee that pupils have not connected to an insecure and unfiltered connection either at home or, with increasing laptop ownership, with Wi-Fi somewhere else.
UK Broadband provides a wireless extension of the school network using WiMAX technology to ensure the same safe & secure internet use whether pupils are in the classroom, at home, or elsewhere. By equipping pupils with laptops that integrate WiMAX and disable Wi-Fi/cabled connections education authorities and parents can be sure the only network they can connect to is a safe one. An additional benefit of a device that only connects to your network is that it has limited value outside of your learning environment.
